Advising

Teacher candidates in our education program are provided an academic faculty advisor that supports them in planning their academic program through graduation. For our dual certification childhood programs, candidates can take EDUC 102: Welcome to the Major, which is a one-credit course that prepares candidates with for the major and provides them with helpful information regarding the program. Adolescence education candidates can take EDUC 188, which provides them with the same information for their program. The School of Education has a Director of Student Success that provides support for candidates ranging from academic to social/emotional support. Informational sessions are provided regularly to provide candidates with information on certification, field experiences, and other topics of interest. The Graduate Assistants in the School of Education are typically former undergraduates and are a great support for candidates.

Partnerships

The School of Education partners with schools all across the region in field experience and student teaching opportunities. We are also a partner in the regional Teacher Immersion Fellowship Program. Additional community outreach programs with P-12 partners are provided on our website.
