Advising

Each candidate is assigned a full-time faculty advisor, whose role is academic planning, mentorship, support for improvement. SJFC also has the Center for Career and Academic Planning (CCAP) that supports students academic needs throughout their program and into their careers.

Support for Teachers of Color

Faculty advisors, instructors and staff attend ongoing professional development on diversity issues and cultural responsiveness.

Partnerships

The Director of Clinical Experience partners with school districts throughout the Greater Rochester area, including public, private, and charter schools. We are a partner in the regional Teacher Immersion Fellowship Program. We have partnerships with School #25, French Road Elementary School, The Genesee Community Charter School, Bay Trail Middle School and Johanna Perrin Middle School and are developing an increasing number of placement partnerships with area schools. Over 50% of our clinical experiences are in high-needs school.
