Certification Requirements

If a teacher is not NYS certified they must meet one of the three exemption criteria to be a lead teacher. ALL special education teachers must hold a valid NYS special education license.

New Teacher Starting Salary

First year teacher with a master’s and no experience would start at approximately $45,000

RA has a robust mentoring program available to all staff.

Professional Development

RA is a member of Achievement First’s Navigator Math program. Through this program the math coach receives extensive support from an Achievement First math instructional coach. Math teaches in grades 3-6 get extensive coaching and training form both the AF Navigator team as well as the school’s math coach and other instructional coaches. RA’s instructional leadership has been trained at RELAY’s national coaching program in highly effective pedagogical and management practices. This training has been turn-keyed to the entire staff. RA has regular and ongoing training on Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning.
