About this Pathway 2
This pathway is designed for candidates who have some college education or an Associate’s degree but have not completed additional post-secondary education. Candidates in this pathway continue their post-secondary education to earn a Bachelor’s degree from an approved undergraduate teacher preparation program or alternative teacher preparation program.
Requirements
To get a teaching certificate in this pathway, you need:
- Bachelor’s degree from an approved undergraduate
teacher preparation program - Workshops
a. Dignity For All Students Act (DASA) Workshop
b. Child Abuse Identification Workshop
c. School Violence Intervention and Prevention Workshop - Fingerprint clearance
Routes
- Enroll in an approved traditional teacher preparation program in New York State
OR
- Enroll in an approved alternative teacher preparation program in New York State
This pathway ends with the candidate earning a Bachelor’s degree. Once the candidate completes the other New York State certification requirements, a candidate earns his or her initial teaching certification.
